Using geometric shapes and stylised human figures in “Whence and Whither”, Mirtala conveys the ideas of the origin of life, the emergence of something from the imaginary into the real: “From a potential state – into a state of matter. From Heaven to Earth, from the circle into a square.». Mirtala states: “Being an artist means the ability to see the invisible. To hear pauses in the music, to hear the sound of silence. Thus, the artist sees both parts of reality: one is visible, the other is hidden.”
